Business Growth Plan Deca – Have a great fundraiser that isn’t listed? Or make changes to what is listed and make it more productive? Let us know and we can add it!

This is a great project to work with your department at no extra cost. School members and students can donate books to your chapter, and you can hold a used book sale to generate revenue from all the books sold.

Have a school event where you fill the area with opaque balloons and hide a few select small prizes. Sell thumbtacks or darts (or other balloon popping items) to event attendees for a chance to pop the balloons and win prizes.

Use DECA as a way to showcase your students’ craft skills by hosting a craft fair. Student artisans can exhibit their work in exchange for volunteer hours, and you can pay at the door or with tickets for each piece purchased by students. This can be done during the festive season as people always love to get authentic, handmade items for their loved ones.

To make this event a silent auction, print out a 20-line page with each item. Participants “bid” on the page for items they want to buy at a price they are willing to pay. After the allotted time, the pages will be drawn and you will announce the winner of each item. The winner pays the highest “bid” amount.

Host a school-wide sports tournament where you pay to enter teams, collect entry fees, set up concessions and award prizes to the winning team. You can also charge people to join the site and then create teams.

Host a one-night sky lantern sending event where people can buy paper lanterns to make a wish, light a fire inside, and send it into the sky. Alternative: You can hold the event in a lake, and the lanterns can swim freely in the water.

Bring board games and other fun games for a one-day game night where you can charge a small fee to let attendees be part of the fun!

Have a bake sale at your school. You can partner with a local bakery or bakery, partner with your school’s culinary department, or have members bake for a bake sale to raise funds for your department.

An October classic, host this contest where you invite people to carve a pumpkin and pay a small fee to enter it in the contest. Get participants and viewers to vote for their favorites and win prizes for the winners.

Get paid for admission and concessions and watch a movie with your friends! The event can be held indoors on a big screen, or outdoors as a “drive-through” event. Turn your event into a themed event with holiday movies!

Host a 5K race at a public park or near your school and pay a registration fee to participate as a runner. All income minus expenses, such as prizes, for whatever reason you’re raising money. You can also choose to pay a little more and add a t-shirt with your registration fee.

This classic fundraising event works well to build teamwork and morale. Organize a car wash and assign department members to various tasks: advertising with signs and washing cars. You can run it like a real business by adding an extra touch with thank you mats that explain what DECA is and how they contribute to the organization (print a thank you note on 11×14 paper and place it on the driver’s side).

Most people have tons of stuff they’re secretly dying to get rid of. They will donate it to you for sale with the proceeds going to DECA. You can have a local company donate a pallet or storage unit to store items during the donation period and pick them up after the sale is over.

A carnival is always a fun way to raise money. And you can get the right amount of overhead at whatever level you want. Skip the antique carousels and create your own games with homemade booths and costumes for a more affordable and personalized event experience. You can even make it a bigger event by inviting other organizations to join. Charge participants to play games! There will be prizes for the winners. You can also sell concessions like drinks and popcorn to make a little extra cash.

Networking and meeting new people are just one of the biggest benefits of being a part of DECA. Team up with another chapter in your area to host a social event and/or community outreach event. If you want to do both, you don’t have to do public relations and public relations activities with the same partner department.
